Instructor(s)

Ellis & Lou Beardsmore

Ellis came out later in life in their early 30's and ended up coming out twice in 5 years! Firstly, they came out as queer when they realised they were sexually attracted to women and then later as trans and non-binary. Lou has been on our own journey of Allyship despite being part of the LGBTQ+ community she had little knowledge of gender diversity, but when Ellis came out as trans and non-binary, she also started her own learning journey on how to be a Trans Ally and understand more about gender diversity.

Do any of the following statements resonate?

  • "My child has just come out and I don't know enough about the LGBT community to understand what that means and what they're saying. I don't know how to support them."

  • "I feel like I should know more about the LGBT community but I don't know where to begin and am embarrassed to ask. I don't want to get things wrong.

  • "I made a mistake and upset someone in the LGBT community and I want to do better."

  • "I've started working with more LGBT clients and I want to make sure that I'm including them."

  • "I keep hearing all this chat about trans rights and I'm confused about what it means to be trans."

Then you're in the right place this course will give you the tools to:

  • Know what the right terms are and have more awareness to support your child coming out

  • Have more knowledge about the LGBT community and know what to say and how to apologise if you get things wrong

  • Know more about the LGBT community so that you don't make mistakes

  • Have clear practices to support your LGBT clients

  • Understand what it is to be trans and how to support trans people

  • Know how to create a more LGBT friendly culture at work
